Rosamund Illing’s career spans the breadth of the repertoire for lyric soprano in opera, symphony and song.

She has performed in England, France, Germany, Japan, the United States, Canada and Australia and her recordings have been showered with many accolades.

A graduate of the University of Adelaide, Miss Illing continued her studies in England and Italy. She soon embarked on an impressive series of opera engagements in Great Britain with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (as Musetta in La bohème with Placido Domingo as Rodolfo), English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera and at the Wexford Festival. In Asia she has performed in Singapore. In Australia, Ms Illing has performed with all of the state opera companies and Opera Australia.

On the concert platform, Miss Illing has performed and recorded with some of the worlds most eminent conductors for example Sir Charles Mackerrass, Richard Bonynge, Sir Neville Mariner and Simone Young

Her teachers and mentors have included Sir Peter Pears during time spent at the Britten Pears School in Aldeburgh, Laura Sarti, Ettore Campogalliani (teacher of Freni and Pavarotti), Richard Bonynge, Erich Vietheer and David Harper. Whilst a student at the National Opera Studio in London, Ms Illing worked with such greats as Tito Gobbi, Sir George Solti, Michael Langdon and Dame Janet Baker. She has taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London and at the Royal Northern College in Manchester and at the Cardiff International Academy of Voice.

Young professionals regularly seek her advice and expertise on refining technique and specialist role preparation.

Recently her students have won all major placings in international competitions such as the Mietta Song Recital and the Herald Sun aria competition, and one student currently has a coveted Young Artists Contract with Deutsche Oper.

Miss Illing specializes in French chanson and its interpretation and the folk songs of Benjamin Britten together with interpretation and performance of Italian operatic arias from Mozart to Verdi.

Young singers will have the opportunity to work with Ms Illing on a one-to-one basis in an open Masterclass situation.
